The coastal hoMe: Refined

The vision was to build a contemporary plantation home that juxtaposed modern amenities with a carefree coastal lifestyle. It was important for the owners to pay homage to Hawaii’s quintessential and charming plantation homes, while incorporating unparalleled luxuries one would expect from an executive estate. The Douk Estates team partnered with one of Hawaii’s premier Architects, Andrew Forman of BLUEPRINT 808, along with the award-winning build team of ALL THINGS NEW led by Richie Breaux to execute the vision. The end result is a home that is incredibly sophisticated yet exceptionally inviting as evidenced by its timeless, elegant, and livable finishes.

history with royalty

The Niu Beach neighborhood was once part of an ahupua’a, a wedge-shaped area running from mountain to sea that was maintained by ancient Hawaiians in a self-sustaining community, which included the Kupapa fishpond.

For hundreds of years, the pond was an integral food source for ancient Hawaiians. King Kamehameha the Great enjoyed the area so much that he had a summer home where he went to rest and relax. In fact, his warriors would land in droves in wooden canoes on the shoreline toward Kahala Beach. This historical tie to King Kamehameha the Great shows how connected the neighborhood is to local history and how historically significant this piece of real estate is to Oahu.
